One major event took place just a short time ago...

Tsunami Disaster

On December 26th, an earthquake that measured 9.0 on the Richter scale caused a massive Tsunami that struck parts of Southeast Asia and Africa. We all watched with great sadness as we saw the death toll rise exponentially.

Reports now say there are over 175,000 dead, half of whom were children, and this number could double.

The powerful tidal wave wiped out entire villages and in some cases, almost everyone in those villages were killed. We all need to pray for those who have been affected so greatly by this tragedy.

Many are saying that this is one of the greatest disasters in recorded history.

Increasing Natural Disasters

Besides the Tsunami, last year was also a year of strange weather patterns and severe and frequent natural disasters around the globe. There seems to be an alarming trend forming but what does it all mean?

And what does the Bible say about these natural disasters... are they Final Generation Signs?

Natural disasters worldwide have been increasing in frequency and intensity over the last several decades -- and this was particularly true in the year 2004. One example of this is the four major hurricanes that struck Florida over just a 2-month period last year.

And of course, the year ended with 9.0 earthquake that rocked the Indian Ocean and caused the massive tidal wave that has killed so many.

Signs of the Times

Signs that we are seeing today fit in exactly with what the Bible predicted and also with what Jesus talked about in Mathew 24. The Bible gives the analogy that during the last days we’ll see "birth pains" just like a woman who is about to give birth. We know that as a woman draws closer to giving birth her pain increases in intensity and frequency.

Jesus spoke about this:

"As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"

Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains." (Matthew 24:3-8 NIV)

Isn’t this exactly what is happening in our world today?

We read in Luke 21:25-26:

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

Even if you don’t follow the news, it's not difficult to recognize strange pattern of events that are happening all over the world.

The Final Generation

The Final Generation before Christ’s return can expect to see an increase in frequency and intensity of all the signs mentioned in Matthew 24 and others throughout the Bible.

It’s not just one sign but many signs happening simultaneously that gives us the indication that Christ's return is near!

And the sign of greatest significance is the reestablishment of Israel as a nation in 1948. Without this singular sign, the rest of these signs, such as increased earthquakes, would not be as relevant.

Now The Good News

But with all this bad news there is great hope…

…Jesus is coming back soon!

All of these Final Signs point to the imminent and fast approaching return of our Lord and Savior. We need to remain alert and aware so we can recognize these signs and help to warn others about what’s coming.

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled." (Luke 21:28-32)

What’s Coming?

The Bible warns that a tribulation period is coming that is unlike anything the world has ever know. The terrible Asian Tsunami will pale in comparison to the number of people who will suffer and die during these 7 years.

But God has made an amazing promise...

He has promised to keep all believers from the tribulation period. Who are the believers? All who believe in Jesus Christ AND have received the gift of salvation given to us through His shed blood on the Cross.

He has promised that all believers will be caught up in the Rapture, never having to face the trials of the tribulation.
