"I have recently heard about "the Rapture". Can you please explain it to me?"

Answer:

Jesus is returning soon and you and I may very well experience what will be one of the most miraculous events in history -- the Rapture.

Picture for a moment an astonishing event where in a split second the world is instantly changed as millions of people around the globe seemingly disappear...

Specifically, no one will actually dissolve into thin air, for all of those included in the Rapture will be alive and well in a much better place.

The most descriptive passage about the Rapture can be found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 which says:

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

The Rapture is one of the most amazing prophecies in the Bible and it's the next event in God's plan for the ages. In this glorious moment, Jesus will return to earth to gather all believers who will be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air.

Jesus said in John 14:3 that "if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Christ made the promise that He would come again so we could be with Him forever. And we have a "sure word of prophecy" (2 Peter 1:19) so this event is guaranteed to happen and it will occur without warning.

As we stand today, the Rapture could literally happen at any moment! And as fast as this event could come, it will be over quicker than anyone could imagine -- almost instantaneously...

The Bible says Jesus will descend with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. Then, in the "twinkling of an eye," He will remove all believers from the world. Those left behind will be shocked when they see millions vanish as they are snatched away at His return.

God's children (those who have put their faith in Christ) will rise to meet the Lord in the air and will forever be with the Savior. Those who have rejected God's free gift of salvation will remain to experience the Tribulation.

Christ's return is the "blessed hope" of the world and we need to be looking for His coming (Titus 2:13).

Think about it... we may very well be alive to be "caught up" to be with the Lord, skipping death, in one of the most astonishing events that will ever happen!
